How to Cut Memory Foam - Re-Sizing Your Memory Foam Mattress Topper

How to Cut Memory Foam - Re-Sizing Your Memory Foam Mattress Topper
How to Cut Memory Foam - Re-Sizing Your Memory Foam Mattress Topper

So you were lucky enough to inherit a memory foam mattress topper, but it's too big for your bed. Don't fruitlessly try to tape down the sides, cut that foam! Cutting memory foam is not nearly as hard as you would expect.

Professional Mattress Cleaners

Though it is possible, cutting your memory foam mattress topper with a pair of ordinary kitchen shears will be difficult, time consuming, and will leave you with painful red marks where the scissors continually rapped upon your hand. Instead, use an electric knife! Most people have electric knives around the house for cutting the Thanksgiving turkey or Christmas ham. If you don't have one, ask your neighbors.

How to Cut Memory Foam - Re-Sizing Your Memory Foam Mattress Topper

The next step is to measure your bed. Subtract 1/4 inch from the measurement of each side, and then draw those dimensions directly on the foam with a thick pen or marker. You want to cut the foam a tiny bit smaller than your mattress so that you'll have no problems pulling your sheets over the mattress topper.

Pull the foam on top of a table, with the end you plan to cut first just over the edge. Then use the knife as you would with a turkey, pushing lightly on the knife to cut a clean line through the memory foam. Be careful; as you wouldn't pull up and down with the electric knife on your family supper, you should use care when cutting the foam as well. The vibrations of the knife will force it to cut a straight line, but if you push and pull too much, too fast or too hard, you will get jagged edges on your mattress topper.

Once you've successfully cut the first side, repeat this on the other three sides and soon enough you'll have a new memory foam mattress topper sized perfectly for your bed!

Your House Cleaning Business - Additional Services to Offer For More Profit

Your House Cleaning Business - Additional Services to Offer For More Profit
Your House Cleaning Business - Additional Services to Offer For More Profit

If you own a house cleaning business, then you know that the low start up cost is an attractive feature of the particular business. That being the case, you may have some competition in your local area for house cleaning business. If you have been in business for a while or are looking to attract new customers, then you might consider offering additional services to your current house cleaning menu of services. This may work well if your clients have been working with you for a while and trust you with their home.

Cleaning Service

* Pet-sitting
If your clients own pets, then you might consider offering a pet-sitting service for when they go on long vacations and need someone to make sure their little friend is fed and given water. This can especially easy for your clients, because you likely already have a key to their home and are familiar with their pet. If you would like to offer this service, then you should do some research on a questionnaire that you develop to answer any pertinent questions regarding the care of each particular pet. This will make your job of pet sitting much easier and your clients will feel more secure about having you take care of their pet.

Your House Cleaning Business - Additional Services to Offer For More Profit

Often pet sitting services charge per visit or per pet, so consider how you are planning to charge for your pet sitting services and create a price sheet that your clients can consider when the opportunity comes up. This may be an especially profitable niche to offer during the holidays, but remember, if you often travel and go on vacation, then offering a pet sitting service may not work with your own schedule.

* Specialty Cleaning
Cleaning residential houses typically involves vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, and other household chores. If you want to expand your services, then you may want to offer specialty cleaning - such as steam cleaning or rug cleaning. These specialty services often require special tools and learned skills. So before offering your clients additional services, you should do some research on what types of equipment you may need to obtain and what types of skills you need to acquire before offering the services.

* House Sitting
House sitting is a great and easy service to offer. House sitting involves watering the plants and lawn, taking in the mail, and other small tasks that need to be done when someone is on vacation. House sitting gives a home the 'lived-in' look and deters house burglaries because would-be thieves will think that the resident is home. Because you have a key, this should be a relatively easy service to offer, especially if you work in the local area and do not have to drive out of your way to make a stop at the empty house.

* Pool Maintenance
Many homeowners who have a pool hire a pool maintenance company to come in and clean their pool. If you had the right equipment, then pool cleaning service can be another type of service that you can offer to your clients. Make sure to do your research because the equipment might be expensive and difficult to carry around if you do not have a large vehicle. If a full-service pool cleaning option seems a little beyond the scope of services that you can offer, then you may just offer light cleaning to your clients' pools. Light cleaning may require simply skimming the pool. By offering light cleaning services, your clients may not have to have their pool company come in as often to take care of their pool - making it a win-win situation for you and your client.

House Cleaning or Maid Service Logo Design Ideas
House Cleaning or Maid Service Logo Design Ideas

Even a small, part-time house cleaning business can benefit from having a professional logo design. For more serious players in the residential cleaning and maid service sectors a logo is an integral part of developing a brand. A logo will help your business to give a good first impression and appear to be well established and professional.

Cleaning Service

Let's examine some of the common traits that can be found among maid service and house cleaning logos. In the following article we also offer ideas on how you can go about getting a design that will be highly effective for the marketing of your cleaning business.

House Cleaning or Maid Service Logo Design Ideas

Common Images on House Cleaning Logos

Many cleaning businesses go for a logo with a graphic or symbol that people will automatically relate to the business. It can be sensible to make it obvious to people so that they can instantly recognize exactly what kind of business you are.

Look at a variety of websites for businesses that clean homes and you will see some common themes start to emerge. Bubbles are popular and are associated with soap and cleanliness, as are symbols of nature like water, leaves and the sun. Some designs highlight the cleaner, sometimes in the traditional outfit of a maid. Others include images of cleaning equipment like dusters, vacuum cleaners and mops. You could also consider including an image or symbol of a house to emphasize the residential nature of your business.

Graphics that give a logo the appearance of a sparkle or shine are also well used in the cleaning industry. The finishing touches can make all the difference to a cleaning logo.

There is no reason why you should follow along with the stereotypical images listed above though. You are more likely to end up with a unique logo that stands out in your market if you go for something a little more abstract. An more abstract choice would also allow for your business to grow in a different direction in the future if you wanted to get into other cleaning niches.

Color Selection

Blue is the color of cleanliness and the majority of house cleaning businesses incorporate various shades of blue along with white in their logo designs. Stay away from 'dirty looking' colors like brown or yellow.

There is an industry trend towards 'green' cleaning services and these businesses favor shades of green over blue to highlight the environmentally friendly nature of their services.

Font Ideas

There are an almost endless number of font options for logos and a good designer will present a number of different styles to you. A font can subconsciously convey a message to prospective clients, just as your choice of images and color can. The right typeface should compliment other elements of your logo in terms of size and style and it should be reasonably easy to read.

Originality

Your logo should really stand out in your area as being unique. A logo that is clean, simple and uncluttered is likely to be the most effective and versatile.

Briefing Your Designer

The best option for getting a logo online is to use a company offering custom logo design services. With this approach you usually get a number of original different design concepts from a variety of designers. These are customized especially for your requirements. You also get to have some input into the design process and make alterations where you feel they are necessary until you are happy with the final design.

When you order a custom logo design you will have to complete a briefing form make sure that you give the design team details of your business. Let them know about your business plans and the kind of clients that you targeting with your cleaning services.

Make sure that you have a pretty good idea of the style of logos that your major competitors are using. You can then point your logo designer to these and ask them to make sure that you end up with something distinctive that won't cause customers to confuse your cleaning service with others in your area.

The residential cleaning business is competitive and you therefore have to do everything that you can to stand out against other players in the market. Having an exceptional logo design is one great way to do this. Start building a strong brand for your house cleaning company or maid service right from the start by investing some time and money into getting a logo that is a perfect fit with your business.

How to Get a Pee Smell Out of a Mattress
How to Get a Pee Smell Out of a Mattress

If you have a baby at home or a pet, mattress pee smell is not far from happening. If that happens, you should know what can help get rid of the awful smell.

Mattress Cleaning

First of all, why do we need to clean? There is the issue of smell. It does not fade away after some time. It may even get worse so it is important to clean your mattress. Another issue is bacteria. Bacteria can grow fast and this can be coupled with molds. Now let's get the cleaning started, shall we? Here are some of the most helpful steps in getting rid of pee smell:

How to Get a Pee Smell Out of a Mattress

Step 1: If you want immediate results and you absolutely have no time to clean, use rubbing alcohol. Just spray it on the affected area and it will immediately reduce the awful smell of pee. You do not even have to wait long for the moisture to fade away. Just make sure you remove the residues of pee first before using this step.

Step 2: Use baby powder, any kind of baby powder. Blot excess pee moisture first and then sprinkle baby powder. Let it settle here for a few minutes and then vacuum away. After vacuuming, you might also want to sprinkle a bit more baby powder to completely get rid of smell.

Step 3: Citrus solution also helps. Prepare any kind of citrus solution. One part of water and one part of either lemon juice, orange juice or lime juice. Pour it in a spray bottle. Blot the excess pee and then immediately spray this solution on the affected area. Wait for a few minutes for the solution to settle and then spray it again with clean water. Afterward, get a clean towel and use it to absorb excess moisture. Allow it to dry in a sunny area.

Step 4: If you don't mind the smell of vinegar, this is also another effective method. The smell of vinegar fades away after some time. Like the previous step, combine one part of water with one part of white vinegar and pour it in a spray bottle. Spray the affected area with this solution and then leave it there for a few minutes. Afterwards, rinse the area with a damp towel.

Just make sure you dry the moist area effectively as moisture is synonymous to mold formation. Leave it in a sunny area to dry or use hair dryer to spot dry.

How to Wrap Furniture for Moving and Storage
How to Wrap Furniture for Moving and Storage

Regardless if you hire professional movers or do it yourself, it is good to know how to wrap the furniture and what to expect. We sell moving supplies and often hear questions: - How many moving blankets do I need? Which moving blanket should I use and how do I wrap my furniture?

Professional Mattress Cleaners

The way to wrap furniture for moving depends on specifics of your move. Is it interstate move, across the country, or local moving around the block? Loading PODS or international shipping container, or moving to long term storage?

How to Wrap Furniture for Moving and Storage

If you are getting ready to move and concerned about safely moving your household goods this series of articles will show in details how to wrap your furniture for any large or small move. People sometimes underestimate amount of packing required for a moving job, but it is important to pack your personal belongings properly. I have been in the moving business for over 20 years, moved hundreds of families personally as a foreman and driver, and then thousands more as an owner of a moving company, both moving locally and moving interstate. I was teaching my movers the best and most efficient ways of handling and wrapping furniture, wrapping with blankets, crating, boxing, you name it.

Movers. Contrary to some statements I came across in other articles, Movers do care about your shipment, in most cases foreman is personally responsible to pay for your damages and movers also know that if something gets broken it is unlikely that they get any tips. At the same time movers do not have any sentimental attachment to your belongings and treat precious to you items as anything else. Their main goal is to secure the goods in a way that it will not break and will be easy to load. Therefore it is important to make a foreman (moving crew leader) which items require special care.

Do not expect movers to see your household goods the way you see it. The movers simply do not have time to consider how delicate each and every item might be. For example a bottle with exotic sand, layered by the color or even in a special design, will be ruined if simply laid on its side. Movers will make sure to pack the bottle that it will be safe, but they might not realize that the sand layers inside the bottle are not fixed and might mix into an ugly mess from vibration in the truck. It is true that most damage occurs while carrying, loading and unloading, but it is also true that if movers (or yourself) do not load the truck properly some items will get damaged in transit.

Word of caution about shopping for a moving company: If you have valuable furniture to move - do not look for cheap movers, look for good ones. Inexperienced movers or movers with bad reputation compete on price, not on professionalism. Good movers deserve to be paid well. As the saying goes - you get what you paid for.

Moving Packing Supplies. There is variety of packing supplies available: bubble sleeves, plate cell packing kits, foam peanuts, bubble craft etc. We are not trying to cover 100% of the packing supplies, but only the most popular that are used by movers and that you can and should expect to find in a moving truck: Blankets, Boxes, paper, bubble wrap and Shrink wrap, plastic covers. With this set of supplies you can pack and move any type of furniture, china or artwork.

Moving Blankets. Moving blankets is mover's "tool of the trade". If you are moving locally and hiring a professional moving company you should expect them to show up with blankets and you should not be charged for it. But if you are moving long distance (interstate moving) or to storage, then purchasing your own moving blankets might be a good idea. Moving Blankets can be of two major kinds: Quilted or padded moving blankets and Non-Quilted,, also called Skins or Space Savers. Each has its use. Quilted Moving blankets usually come in 72 x 80 inches size and differ depending on the outer fabric and amount of filler, the heavier the blankets the more filer they have and the more protection they offer. Cheap moving blankets are made with nonwoven outer fabric and very light filler. These blankets can be very good if you are planning to place your stuff in long term storage or a small move.

Economy moving blankets provide adequate protection and do not take much room in the storage. For long distance or interstate moving where interstate carrier charges by weight the advantage is that these blankets are much lighter than regular moving blankets. For heavy solid wood furniture, leather couches, heavy dining tables etc. it is better to get heavier, thicker blankets that will provide better protection against bumps and dents. If you move often, moving blankets with woven outer fabric much more durable moving blankets and will serve much longer. Non-quilted moving blankets can be made out of felt or burlap on one side and felt on the other. These should not be discounted especially if your main concern the furniture rubbing against each other. If you are packing your own pod, or container - you can use space savers with great success.

Another option is paper moving blankets. Paper packing blankets are constructed of two outer layers of brown kraft and three inner layers of light weight paper. The three inner layers can consist of newsprint, light weight kraft, tissue, bogus, or non woven papers. Most people are not even aware of paper blankets to be used for moving, meanwhile it is a very good alternative to quilted moving blankets, especially if you are moving only once or sending your goods to a long term storage or moving overseas. Paper blankets are breathable, provide good protection and 100% recyclable.

Boxes. Moving boxes can be single wall, such as Book boxes, Linen boxes etc. or double wall, such as China Boxes, TV boxes, Wardrobe boxes etc. Double wall boxes are much stronger and hold more weight. But please DO NOT try to load them to capacity. Loading Wardrobe box full of books is not a good idea. Name of the box is very suggestive: Book boxes (1.5 cubic feet) are for books, Small Linen boxes (3.1 c.f.) or Large Linen boxes (4.5 c.f.) are for folded clothes, towels and linen, China boxes, 5,.2 c.f. is for fragile items, and wardrobe box ( come in 10.1 c.f. or 15 c.f. and 4 ft tall) is for hanging clothes. And of course there are picture boxes, lamp boxes, mattress boxes and a whole line of all kinds of specialized boxes, corners etc.

Cushioning Materials. When you pack fragile items in a box - you need something to provide cushioning. Most popular is Bubble wrap and Blank newsprint. Blank newsprint or white paper comes in 5, 10 or 25 lbs bundles. Blank newsprint is the best for packing kitchenware, plates, china, fragile items, or simply filling empty spaces in a box. Bubble wrap come in 12 or 24 inch wide rolls and with various bubble sizes. Movers mostly use 0.5 inch bubble wrap 24 inches wide. Bubble wrap is good for wrapping electronics or large pieces of glass.

Plastic Covers. Plastic covers for moving would include Shrink wrap or stretch wrap and Plastic mattress cover, plastic sofa cover or plastic chair covers. Shrink wrap - is widely used in shipping to keep a load on a pallet together as one unit and not to allow it to fall apart or items disappear from shipment. In moving furniture shrink wrap was originally used to keep items with small parts or opening doors or drawers together. Then it became a substitute for plastic covers to wrap mattresses. It is not at all better than a plastic mattress cover, but it is more profitable for a moving company: it cost much less to buy a roll of shrink wrap, but it takes longer to wrap plus mover can charge more for each item wrapped. Movers might even wrap shrink wrap on top of furniture already wrapped in blankets. It looks good, but it is very expensive and absolutely useless. If you put your items to storage shrink wrap is actually damaging to the furniture, because it traps the moisture and the furniture can actually rot under the shrink wrap if stored long enough. I would strongly recommend using mattress covers, because even if it will be wrapped in a blanket - you do not know what was wrapped in that blanket before. And mattress is what you sleep on. Also sofas with light colored upholstery would be better off if you cover it with plastic sofa cove before wrapping in the furniture blankets. Sometimes the color bleeds off the moving blanket onto upholstery.

SUMMARY: When preparing for the move consider specifics of your move and consider the furniture you want to wrap. Need to save space? - Get space savers or paper blankets, need better protection - get premium quality thick moving blankets. Want to keep your fragile safe - pack them in double wall strong boxes with a lot of cushioning materials Want your keep furniture clean - use Plastic furniture covers. In the next article we will go over specifics of wrapping various items of furniture.

Let's Play Shenmue 2 - Part 13 - Cleaning the Temple

Cleaning A Mattress
Cleaning A Mattress

You know that phrase "out of sight, out of mind"? Well, it applies to your mattress. Because your mattress is usually covered by sheets, comforters, pillows, quilts, dogs, clothes, people, etc. it isn't necessarily the first item on your list of things to clean. This article will provide you with some easy tips on both how to keep your mattress clean and how to clean your mattress when it gets dirty.

Mattress Cleaning

Keeping your mattress clean

Cleaning A Mattress

The first thing to be said about cleaning a mattress is do what you can to keep your mattress clean. The more disciplined you are with what happens in or around your bed, the less cleaning you will end up doing. That means that you will want to avoid eating and drinking while in your bed. you will also want to avoid letting pets sleep on your bed. While it may not seem like much, keeping animals, food, and drinks away from your mattress will greatly reduce the chances of spills and accidents. The more spills and accidents you can avoid the less you will have to worry about cleaning your mattress. In cases where mattresses are at a higher risk for spills or accidents (in a child's room for example) then you may want to consider a mattress bag or mattress liner/cover. Such mattress covers are typically placed below the sheets and help to prevent liquids from seeping into the mattress. Most covers can be purchased for - and are usually durable enough to last a couple years. You may also want to consider a washable mattress pad. Costing 0 - 0, washable pads are considerably more expensive than plastic liners or covers, but are more durable and comfortable, and help protect against both solid and liquid spills.
Cleaning Up

Given how much time we spend in or on our beds it's inevitable that accidents happen. However, if you are prepared for such accidents, then when they do occur you will be able to take care of them quickly and reduce the chance that your mattress will be permanently stained or damaged.

If the spill or accident involves liquid (i.e. urine, vomit, drinks, etc.) then the first thing you will need to do is blot the spill. Using a clean, dry towel or rag, apply as much weight as you can on the spill (you can even try standing on the towel/rag). Do not rub the spill! Rubbing liquid spills does not allow the towel or rag to absorb as much of the liquid and can cause the stain to seep deeper into the material. Continue blotting until the spill is slightly damp to the touch. Once you've removed the bulk of the liquid then you are ready to apply a cleaner. The cleaner you apply will depend on the liquid that was involved in the spill or accident. For organic spills (urine, vomit, juices) you will want an enzymatic cleaner or a 50/50 solution of lemon juice or vinegar and cold water. Enzymatic cleaners work by breaking down the peptide bonds in the proteins of the liquid. They can be found at your local grocery store and usually cost - . Most non-organic spills can be taken care of by common spray upholstery cleaners. Once you've decided on which cleaner will work best for your situation, spray, not pour, the cleaner on the mattress. Pouring a cleaner onto your mattress can yield the same results as the initial accident, as the cleaner can seep into the mattress's material. After lightly spraying the spot, blot the cleaner with a new, clean, dry towel. Once the area has been thoroughly blotted again, sprinkle some baking soda over the area. The baking soda will both help to absorb the remaining moisture and will help eliminate odors as the area dries up. While you will want to leave the baking soda on for longer the larger the stain is, we recommend at least 8 - 10 hours. Once the baking soda has had time to do its job, vacuum it off of your mattress and continue using it as normal.

In cases where your mattress is submerged in water (i.e. a flood) or is exposed to a moist environment for long periods of time, the steps to get the mattress are going to be quite different. First and foremost, when mattresses get wet they can (and often do) develop mold. This mold is usually not visible and can pose serious health risks. Because you likely spend 8 or more hours in or on your bed a day you are putting yourself at risk to be inhaling mold spores. These spores can make you sick and in some cases can actually kill you. That said, if you have the means to replace a mattress that has been exposed to large amounts of liquid do it! Spending a few hundred dollars to replace a mattress may save you thousands in mold related medical expenses down the road. If your mattress starts to smell a little musty then chances are that it has developed some mold/mildew. When this happens you will need to kill the mildew. Using a light bleach solution spray and blot the mattress, then let the mattress dry in the sun. While the bleach and sun will help to kill the mold you may want to consider running a humidifier in the room to help prevent new mildew from growing.

For spills that involve solids (chips, cookie crumbs, etc) you will need to first pick up the large pieces. Once you've gotten those out of the way vacuum up the smaller pieces. If there was any staining from the spill then spray the area with an appropriate cleaner (we talked about finding the right cleaner above) and blot the sprayed area with a clean, dry towel or rag. If there is any lingering odor once the area has been sprayed and blotted then sprinkle it with baking soda, let the baking soda sit for 8 - 10 hours (or longer for bigger spills) and vacuum the area clean.

There are also a number of good mattress cleaning solutions that are available for purchase in retail locations and online. You may want to take a look at Butler's Secret and ProKlean (although we've heard horror stories about their customer service). You can also always contact the mattress's manufacturer to get additional cleaning and maintenance tips!
Clean Mattress Maintenance

Most mattresses are designed to be used for 5, 10, 20 years or more. With that much use there are a few things you can do to keep your mattress smelling fresh. One of the simplest things you can do to keep your mattress fresh is to change the sheets regularly. By changing your sheets regularly you will prevent dust mites, dander, and dead skin cells from making their way through the fabric of the sheet and into your mattress. A second simple maintenance procedure is to vacuum the surface each time you flip your mattress. When vacuuming make sure you use the hose with either no attachment or the hard surface attachment (that does not have a brush).

If your mattress starts to smell a little stale there are a couple things you can do. First, you can lightly clean the mattress's surface with a lemon scented upholstery cleaner or with a 50/50 lemon juice and cold water solution. The surface should be lightly sprayed and then blotted dry. A second step you can take is to place a few dryer sheets underneath the sheets and other bedding. Dryer sheets are not a perfect or long term solution, but they can provide some temporary relief. If you or someone you share the room with start to experience headaches, you will want to try a new scent. If there is a residual smell from cigarette or cigar smoke, sprinkle baking soda over the entire surface of the mattress, let it sit overnight and then vacuum clean.

We hope that this guide has been useful! Best of luck getting your mattress cleaning and keeping it that way!

Mattress Cleaning Business - How to Manual
Mattress Cleaning Business - How to Manual

A Mattress Cleaning Business might be just for you if you have tried everything to contain your allergies, but feel like it is not enough. Instead of just purchasing the equipment to rid your fabric furniture and mattresses of allergens, you can also help others in your community to feel the relief and make a good income at the same time.

Mattress Cleaning

Mattress cleaning companies have been available for approximately 12 years in Europe, and are just now starting up in the United States. No matter where you live, this business has virtually no competition, and is useful to all people. If you think it is very expensive to start, you're wrong.

Mattress Cleaning Business - How to Manual

You can find mattress cleaning service franchises or companies wanting to set up dealers. You will purchase a franchise or license, and start your business. Either way the companies include the equipment, training, support and marketing tools to help get your mattress cleaning service up and running.

Each company offers its own system at its own cost, but they normally start about ,000 per system and you will probably want to purchase more then one system. The up side of this mattress cleaning business is that you will see a profit fairly quickly. However, you should do some things before purchasing your franchise or license.

The first thing is to check with your local and state governments to find out the regulations and requirements you will need. You should also check with your insurance agent to inquire about insurance requirements for your mattress cleaning business. Make sure you have these before you open for business.

You may also want to visit the Small business web site or go to the local office and get a copy of helpful forms and a sample business plan to use to help you start your business. These forms will help you answer questions, and budget your investment. It will also help you to discover any items you may have not thought of or forgotten about prior to opening.

If you need help financing your mattress cleaning services, you will need this document as well as a proposal. You will take these to private investors, banks, and the Small Business Administration. If you are turned down at first, reevaluate your proposal and business plan, make any changes and try again. Never get discouraged.

Once you have financing and have purchased your mattress cleaning business franchise or license, use the tools the company has given you. Advertise, focusing on the ability to clean allergens out of fabric furniture and mattresses. Everyone has furniture and beds and everyone wants those things clean. This works to your advantage to get clients. Don't forget to send a sales letter to local hospitals and hotels announcing the opening of your incredible mattress cleaning business.

Run an ad in your local paper. You can even run ads in surrounding areas, depending on how far you are willing to travel. If your area has coupon mailers, consider putting a coupon for the mattress cleaning business in it. It will get your business name out there. It will be one of the best ways to advertise.

Once you have a few clients, they will start telling friends and family and your client base will grow. Your clients are your best advertisements. You may also want to put fliers in mattress and furniture stores. Always ask first, but they may refer people to your mattress cleaning business.

Subscribe to newsletters and periodicals to keep up on the industry trends. This way you will stay ahead of any competition. Also, check out books and web sites. Always know what is going on in your industry.

If you already have a cleaning service, you may want to consider adding this to the services you already provide. Or you may start with this service and gradually grow into other cleaning services. Your options are endless and the industry is wide open. Your biggest chance of failure is if you don't try.

How to Kill Bed Bugs - Tips On How To Get Rid Of Bed Bugs Quickly And Easily

How to Kill Bed Bugs - Tips On How To Get Rid Of Bed Bugs Quickly And Easily
How to Kill Bed Bugs - Tips On How To Get Rid Of Bed Bugs Quickly And Easily

Many of us were put to sleep with the saying, 'good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite' as children, but have you ever really thought about what bed bugs were? Bed bugs are not as bad as everyone thinks they are, of course. They don't carry vicious diseases or imply uncleanliness--bed bugs can be picked up without you ever having to do anything but they are certainly a great deal harder to get rid of than they are to get. Luckily, learning how to kill bedbugs is not hard to do at all, and many of the things that you might have heard about their dogged tenacity to make your life miserable isn't true at all.

Professional Mattress Cleaners

If you want to know the truth about how to eliminate bed bugs, put the mop and bucket down. Contrary to popular belief, bed bugs do not give a care in the world about the cleanliness of their surroundings. They are easily transmitted through clothing, luggage, boxes, and other vehicles from location to location and that is how they survive. Many people try the approach of just abandoning the premises for a while, in hopes that the bed bugs will be gone when they return but unfortunately they are known to live up to a year without a host to feed off of, so you might have to truly abandon your residence for that tactic to work.

How to Kill Bed Bugs - Tips On How To Get Rid Of Bed Bugs Quickly And Easily

A way to kill bed bugs more easily without having to move out of your home is to completely eliminate them; this can be difficult as these little creatures can hide just about anywhere, from behind the light plate on your wall to under your pillow and mattress, and seal up all cracks and crevices in the home--even the area between the wall and the molding where the floor meets the wall. Sealing up these areas decreases the likelihood of the bed bugs finding a place to lay low until the air clears--literally.

After everything has been sealed and exposed, there are a few methods you can use to get rid of bed bugs but the most practical by far is steam cleaning. Most professional exterminators will use steam cleaners to kill the bugs as they can hardly survive at temperatures above 110 degrees Fahrenheit. The heat kills the bugs, and after that it is just up to you to clean up the remains and make sure you don't ever have to deal with the bed bug problem ever again.

After the bugs have been killed, the problem is no longer how to kill bed bugs but how to keep them gone. If things are done right, rarely do bed bugs re-surface but it is important to always keep an eye out for them when you are traveling, even if you are staying at the Ritz-Carlton or the Waldorf-Astoria. After all, bed bugs do not discriminate and they have a tendency to travel great distances just to make the lives of human beings a tad bit more trying.

Kel-Tec SU-16C: "Featherweight Firepower" BY Nutnfancy, Pt 3 Video Clips.

Duration : 21.47 Mins.

PART 3 OF 3: The Kel-Tec SU-16C is a super lightweight, portable rifle possessing excellent firepower, good accuracy, and reliability. At a mere 4.7 lbs the SU-16C enjoys an amazingly versatile POU: backpacking gun, patrol officer carbine, civilian sheepdog weapon, or aircrew armament. As shown with Burris "Speed Dot" sight , 30 rd USGI mag (empty), M6 laser/light, and single point sling the SU-16C weighs still a svelte 5.8 lbs. The SU-16C is a high value gun and competes against that also excellent Ruger Mini-14 in the high value .223 carbine category (subject to change with pricing). It takes the ubiquitous AR-15 magazines which gives it plentiful and useful firepower. Integrating a built in Picatinny rail, the SU-16C can easily take optics to increase night sighting and overall hit potential. I recommend sticking to very lightweight sighting options on the gun to retain its portability and speed in handling. The iron sights however are good using a ghost-ring aperture system. They are capable of good accuracy at 50 yards as shown with my target proof. The SU-16C should be considered to have a break-in period and one model I shot experienced many stoppages until this phase was complete. Thereafter (and after cleaning and lubing), that example became 100% reliable with a variety of ammunition. Ensure the bolt, lock lugs, and bolt carrier wear a good lubricant like BreakFree CLP or Slip2000 to help ensure reliable functioning. Some users polish the bottom of the bolt ...Cleaning Service

My plan was to see if I could get at least one of them working by swapping the parts from the bad clippers. In this case, most of the clippers needed only a new carbon brush/springs, and a good cleaning/regreasing. I had a long relationship with an beauty store ( www.texasbeautysupplies.com ), so bought the parts that I needed from them. They have been always so helpful. How to Get Rid of New Memory Foam Mattress Smell

How to Get Rid of New Memory Foam Mattress Smell
How to Get Rid of New Memory Foam Mattress Smell

Memory foam mattress is currently the apple of the eye of the mattress industry. This technology made a breakthrough in the bedding scene due to its ability in reducing back pains, pressure sores and stiff muscles. But one of the downsides of using this mattress is the factory-like pungent smell once you have stripped its plastic cover.

Mattress Cleaning

Memory foam mattresses actually contain chemicals. These chemicals emit a certain kind of odor when it is still brand new. To some, this is mildly irritating. But to most of us, it causes worries. Continuous inhalation of these toxic chemicals might endanger our health.

How to Get Rid of New Memory Foam Mattress Smell

Here are some tips to help you get rid of the initial memory foam odor:

Tip 1: Do not rip off the plastic cover of the mattress yet. Cut one end of the plastic cover and then pull the mattress. Once it is exposed, sprinkle baking soda on all its sides. Baking soda is a smell eliminator. It diffuses all kinds of smell, even moldy and musty smell. Once you have sprinkled it all over your mattress, cover it again with the plastic wrap to insulate the baking soda. Leave it on over night. Vacuum it off the next morning.

Tip 2: Put the mattress in a sunny and airy room. Open the windows in the room to allow air to circulate inside. You can also put pieces of charcoal on a container and put it on top of the mattress. Blast the mattress with air from an electric fan. Charcoal helps in absorbing bad odour.

Tip 3: If you do not have a spare mattress and you need to use your new memory foam bed immediately, then put a thick bed sheet. Wash the bed sheet every other day. It will help absorb the smell and the smell will cling to your sheets. When washing, put fabric softener in your machine.

Tip 4: Purchase odor absorbing products. There are those odor absorbing products sold in the cleaning isle of the grocery store. Some are in the form of scented glass containers while others can be plugged in for 24-hour room freshness. They might cost a lot of money so your alternative is to make a room freshener made from lemon peel. Put it in a cold aluminium container in the room you are putting your mattress in.

You do not have to suffer the initial odor of memory foam mattress. With these tips, you can sleep peacefully and soundly.

How To Get Rid Of The Musty Smell Of An Old Mattress
How To Get Rid Of The Musty Smell Of An Old Mattress

The musty odor of your old mattress probably keeps you awake every night. You shouldn't suffer from this problem anymore. There are a lot of home remedies that can effectively deodorize your old bed.

Mattress Cleaning

Here are some of the tips you would want to try:

How To Get Rid Of The Musty Smell Of An Old Mattress

1. If the weather is good and the wind is not high, try drying your mattress outside. The sun's UV rays always work in removing any kind of musty smell in things. Remove the bed covers and the pillow cases. Let your mattress and your pillows dry under the sun. Place them over a clean platform. Leave your mattress there for at least 4 hours.

After the allotted time, get your mattress and place it back inside. Vacuum all sides of the bed. This should help get rid of the accumulated dirt and dust on the surface of the bed.

2. Sprinkle baking soda all over the mattress. Get a soft-bristled small brush and scrub the baking soda on the bed. Baking soda can get rid of stains and can also neutralize bad mattress odor. Let it work in deodorizing your bed for an hour or two before vacuuming it off. Vacuum all sides of the mattress to get rid of the baking soda particles.

3. Mix one cup of lemon juice and two cups of warm water. Place the mixture in a spray bottle. Spray it all over the mattress. Lemon juice effectively dispels the musty odor of mattresses. It also leaves a citrus kind of scent in your bed. Let your mattress dry completely before using it again.

4. If the odor is caused by bacteria, you might want to disinfect your mattress. Try mixing one cup of rubbing alcohol and one cup of water. Place the mixture in a spray bottle and spray it all over the bed. Alcohol dries faster. It also works in removing germs and bacteria so your mattress can smell fresh and clean once again.

5. Sprinkle baby powder all over the bed. Just like baking soda, it helps neutralize unwanted odor. Let it work for about an hour before vacuuming it off.

If none of these remedies worked, you can try using the reliable vinegar method. Mix a cup of distilled white vinegar with a cup of warm water. Place it in a spray bottle and spray it all over the mattress. This is also a good remedy for stains.

How to Get Rid of Pickle Smell
How to Get Rid of Pickle Smell

Cucumber pickling remained widespread across the Levant and Maghreb regions, where it is still very popular today. Pickled cucumbers became popular in the United States due to the influence of the cuisine of Eastern European immigrants.

Professional Mattress Cleaners

In any case, as beloved as pickles are, the stench that these brine-preserved vegetables can cause to your jars, cupboards, fridges, cars and your entire home is almost enough for many to wish that this so-called treat had vanished along with Ancient Rome and Greece.

How to Get Rid of Pickle Smell

How can you get rid of the odor of the pickle juice spilled on your sofa or eliminate the odor from that empty pickle jar? Here are some tips to help you out.

Pickle Smell Removing Products

* Febreze uses a chemical compound called cyclodextrin that has been used in household and custodial cleaning products for quite some time now. The sugar-like substance doesn't necessarily "clean" the pickle odors out, but acts as an absorbent - like baking soda or crumpled newspaper - to help soak the odor out.

* An Ozone Generator will get rid of any odor you can think of if it's left on long enough in a closed house or apartment. The specifics of this procedure are a bit unclear, but if you're getting desperate enough, it might be worth a shot.

You will have to take full responsibility for what this might do to your home or your health. Just be sure to air out the home thoroughly after doing this because ozone is bad for your lungs.

* Get a Prozone Air Purifier. They're good for keeping your whole house smelling fresh, not just eliminating those pickle odors. Unfortunately, they are also quite expensive.

* If you want something a little cheaper, you can try Ozium Air Freshener. It's a small bottle, but just a little goes a long way. You can get this product at most Wal-Mart branches and some car part dealerships.

* A few deodorizing products that you can also use include Nature's Miracle, Bane-Clene (which is great for allergies), and a well-recommended mattress cleaner used by the hotel industry called ProKlean.

* Try Renuzit on any scent. You pull it up, and the product's gel-shaped cone absorbs the smells. It takes about 24 hours, but it works. The first day, the smell of the gel is very strong, but soon it fades along with the odor you want to get rid of.

* You can also buy home oil fragrances and burners from various candle shops. With fruity flavors like mango and all the benefits of aromatherapy, it may be the way to go. The selection of aromas available is quite extensive, and would suit most any aromatherapy fan's taste.

They make useful burners for the oils too. The best part is that even though the bottles are small, all you need is about five or six drops each time, so the bottles last forever. You can even find a little fragrance burner you can plug into the lighter in your car, which is a lot more effective than those cheap little air fresheners you hang from the rear view mirror.

* Natural cleaners and odor-removing products are a good idea. If you want to get rid of that smoke odor in an eco-friendly manner, how about using some of the cleaning products found in the organic and natural foods section of your local grocery store? Often, these products work just as well as the brand name chemicals. Examples of these so-called natural cleaners are good old borax, hydrogen peroxide, enzymatic cleaners, and oxygen bleach.

Pickle Smell Removal

First of all, it should be fairly obvious to you that it isn't the pickles themselves that are causing the funky smell in your house/car/cupboard/jar; it's actually the smell of the pickling agents (vinegar or brine) that's clinging onto your valued properties and possessions. If you want to get rid of this foul odor, try one of these tips.

* First, wash the jars well in hot, soapy water and rinse completely. Then pour in a solution of equal parts vinegar and water. Let it stand overnight with the lids off. Rinse, dry, store with the lids off, and the smell should be gone.

* You can also fill the jars with crumpled-up newspaper and let them stand overnight to remove odors.

* Use your pickle jar only for pickles, nothing more. If you can't use it for pickles, throw it out or recycle it.

* For entire spaces that smell of pickles, try leaving an open box of sodium bicarbonate, otherwise known as baking soda, in the contaminated region (like the fridge or your cupboard). It can work there for a few months and it tremendously helps eat up pickle odors and other smells. Buy two boxes and sprinkle one of them on your carpets to help deodorize as well.

* You can either go to your local hardware store and rent a carpet steam cleaner to shampoo the carpets yourself, or you can hire a professional to bring in a big truck and do the dirty work for you. If you want to save money, the choice is obvious, and the guarantees some businesses will make these days smell funnier than the pickle odor you want them to remove.

* Check all corners and closets for any pickle residues in the apartment, then air out the place for a few days with as much cross-ventilation as possible.

* Potpourri or air fresheners are just going to mask the smell, but for a short time, they'll do if you just need to get through one more day of pickle smell hell. You can also burn some incense, if you'd like; it basically uses the same idea.

* The key is to disinfect. A bottle of bleach or ammonia and a heavy-duty pair of rubber gloves should help a lot in sanitizing every little nook and cranny of your pad. Yes, elbow grease is the way to go when getting rid of pickle funk.

Cleaning Services

* Hire professional cleaners as a last resort; however, for many people the cleaners are the first choice because of the sheer ordeal of pickle smell removal. Indeed, if all else fails, commercial cleaning does exist to help you out.

Whatever the situation of the hirer, a professional cleaning service can cost a lot less money than most people would expect. The cleaners provide all the equipment and detergents. Above all, they have the experience of having cleaned rooms that would probably make your pickle-stinking room smell like roses in comparison.

Another point to consider is that if you tried to do the job yourself, you would no doubt spend more time than a professional cleaner would, and time is money! Get yourself out of that pickle and let somebody else do the job for you.

Nutnfancy SHOT Show: SAIGA Rifles and Shotguns Tube.

Duration : 32.13 Mins.

Can you get a reliable Russian-made AK-variant rifle for less than 0? Yes. Things may change but as of 2010 it is possible. The Saiga rifles offered by Russian American Armory Company are made on the same production lines as the AK-74 and AK-100 series of Russian service rifles and share their same reliability and durability. At least that's what Mr. Clyde Woods from RAAC tells us in this Nutnfancy 2010 SHOT Show booth review (and he was a great host!). I am inclined to agree and wouldn't hesitate buying the type. Featuring hammer forged, chrome-lined barrels and chrome-lined bores and chambers, the Saigas shown here should shoot accurately and last a long time. The Saigas were engineered from the outset to be a commercial AKM variant and as such depart heavily from the AK/AKM feature set. As such they are "less threatening" and thus more importable. Although the Saiga rifles feature similar stamped receivers (about 1mm thickness) they lack many of the genuine AK/AKM features like: dimpled receiver for magazine stability, upper handguard and pistol grip, standard AK fire control group (Saigas use their own trigger arrangements), receiver notches for safety catch, bayonet-capable front sight block with muzzle device (Saigas have neutered front sight, no threading or muzzle device), integral cleaning rod, AK gas block with vent holes, and standard AK magazine capability (Saigas take a proprietary magazine, modification for capability IS possible for some Saigas [barrel ...Cleaning Service
